I'm still enjoying the photos of Christmas with the kitties.

Did I take photos of my family?

Er, no.

Just Christmas morning with the kitties who had a 

great time with all their (too many) gifts!

This was the first (indoor) Christmas for my boy Pinkerton who goes by the nickname of Buddy.

He loved this feathery toy on a stick that also lights up!

Olive kitty likes this holiday themed gifts on a stick toy.

Daisy also likes the light up feather on a stick toy.

Toys, toys everywhere!

And some ribbon and tissue paper cause thats fun too!

Catnip for everyone!

Blooming This Week ~ Butterflies & Bees in my Garden

You know how it is when you want to do a post on something and nothing cooperates? 

Yep, this is one of those posts..

They say in Hollywood that working with animals is tough. 

Try working with wildlife!

There was to be a lack of butterflies on my butterfly bushes. 

Except for one...

That is why they call them that, right?

(Not even going to whine about the lack of hummingbirds on them)

A morning dove and friend in the top of the willow tree.

There's always cats to photo. This is the closest these two have been without a hissing fit.

Not too hard to photo...this one poses.

My leeks are blooming and the bees love them!

Uh-oh...maybe this explains the lack of wildlife in my garden...

Blooming This Week…Finally Something!

What a difference a week makes!

The secretly-blooming-while-I-was-at-work crocus are now blooming when I can see them!

A few early daffodils are blooming too!

With temperatures in the 70’s this week, I think plenty of other formerly shy flowers just might show their faces. Stay tuned…

Warm temperatures meant open windows. Open windows means restless kitties in the windows.

Well 2 of them.

Pinkerton hides under the bed when I open the windows.

He knows he has it good in the house.

He is not going to chance going near an open window lest he be sucked

out into the cruel world of stray kitties.

Or, at least, that is what I think he thinks…

Update on Pinkerton the Kitty

So last month I brought a new kitty into my home. He was a stray who was living in the neighbor’s old barn next door. I thought he was a she and then …whoops…it’s a boy!

Obviously, I am not a vet in my spare time. Ha!

Pinkerton has settled into his indoor life here at the cottage. When I open a door to go outside, he runs in the opposite direction. I’m pretty sure he is thinking “I have a bottomless food bowl and all the kitty toys I can play with. I’m not leaving this place!”

He likes to sit in the window and look out on his former cat-dom:

Sunday mornings are play with all the kitties’ morning. Here he is playing with those darn feathers again in the Kebbler tree:

Homeless Kitty....Pinkie er, Pinkerton

Back before Thanksgiving, I started feeding a homeless kitty living in the neighbors barn. Since his barn was locked, I would shove food under the hole in the bottom of the door. 

Before I started feeding this kitty, she lived off the birds she caught in my backyard. 

I was not amused.

My plan was to find a no-kill shelter to take her too when I could catch her. In December, with my old cat senile and ailing, I started feeding this kitty on my back porch. It was a nice distraction as this kitty was always there to greet me and was happy just to be fed.

My old kitty, Midge, died right before Christmas. I was sad and started feeding the stray kitty twice a day. We were on a petting basis by then. She would sit outside my back door trying to come in. 

It was cold. 

I felt bad for her.

I wondered if she was cold and safe and lonely in that barn all night.

Can you see where this is going...?

Yep, I captured her last week and took her to the vet for shots and a check up. I told them her name was Pinkie because if her pink nose and the name fit in with my other retro named kitties. 

Not only did my new kitty get a clean bill of health, but she was a he, so Pinkie became Pinkerton.

I took him the vet in this box. When we got home, he sat in this box for 3 hours. 

He was King of the Box!

Eventually, he got out of the box and explored a few rooms including the bathroom.

He likes to play with feathers! (not his first time with feathers...maybe I shouldn't encourage him?)

Christmas with the Kitties 2011

If you read my last post, you know that Christmas with the kitties was a little more somber this year. Not as much frolicking as in previous holidays, but still some memorable kitty moments.

I have no idea what was so attractive about this toy:

I'm thinking it was laced with catnip because that last face looks like catnip overload!

Must pass the new kitty toy sniff test.
