Cottage Style Party & Daffodils…finally!

And then, there were…

DAFFODILS!

After waiting so patiently, ahem, for them, they are finally here!

I just can't get enough if them!

They were almost glowing on a sunny day this past weekend.

So pretty!

My neighbor across the street has another variety that I just couldn't resist.

I love the dainty flowers against the rugged stone wall.

Yes, those are hens and chicks tucked in-between the stones of the wall.

L-O-V-E

Despite the predictions for snow (again!) this week, in my mind it is spring.

Snow on the shrubs behind the daff's this morning…

the weather just needs to move on!

I spent my weekend spring cleaning and getting ready for my annual yard sale.

I'll be doing the same thing next weekend.

Yippee…not really...

It is exhausting digging and sorting, moving and cleaning everything!

But sitting in a clean living room afterwards was worth it!

The yard sale is the following weekend, rain or shine, it all has to go somewhere!

Just so long as it is not at my cottage.

Anyone else want to admit to spring cleaning?

Blooming This Week...Bulbs Bulbs Bulbs

With the warm early spring we are having, it seems as though all the spring bulbs are blooming at the same time!

Instead of the usual spring flowers blooming over a period of weeks or months, they all came up and bloomed at once.

It makes me wonder…what if everything blooms early this year, what will be left come fall?

Daffodils & hyacinths in front of the house

Daffs & grape hyacinths on my kitty's grave way out back.

The lone tulip by the shed.

A patch of violets by the shed.

Forsythia, which should be flowering now.

And lilacs which should not.

Blooming This Week…Finally Something!

What a difference a week makes!

The secretly-blooming-while-I-was-at-work crocus are now blooming when I can see them!

A few early daffodils are blooming too!

With temperatures in the 70’s this week, I think plenty of other formerly shy flowers just might show their faces. Stay tuned…

Warm temperatures meant open windows. Open windows means restless kitties in the windows.

Well 2 of them.

Pinkerton hides under the bed when I open the windows.

He knows he has it good in the house.

He is not going to chance going near an open window lest he be sucked

out into the cruel world of stray kitties.

Or, at least, that is what I think he thinks…

What’s Blooming This Week…Not Much!

Its still a little early to see spring blooms at the Lavender Garden Cottage. The weather is being very uncooperative with tornados one day and snow the next.

I bet these crocus bloom everyday after I go to work and close up shop before I come home. I only suspect this, but have not caught them in the act.

The daffodils are sending up flower heads and should be blooming soon. Yeah!

Today's flower of the day is Sunny Girl Daffodil. Time to plant those daffodils for spring blooms! This orange and white beauty has the prettiest ruffled corona. It looks lovely in your garden as well as in a vase. Blooms in mid-spring for lucky zones 3-8.

Today’s flower bulb of the day is Strawberry Margarita Daffodil. This stunning daff has a deep salmon pink cup surrounded by soft yellow petals. Like most bulbs, it should be planted in a low watering area. It blooms in mid-spring in lucky zones 3-8.
