Cottage Style Party & Autumn Mantle

I freshened up my mantle for the first day of fall!

My usual mantle staples are still there: lamp, mirror, mercury glass, door way print.

Plus a few things I rotate around my home like the hurricane candle holder, letter A and the fruits for Etsy photos.

I added several old books with faded green covers with a pumpkin and apples from my Etsy photo stash.

This photo is one I took on the Oregon coast on a rainy day.

That's a color photo, btw!

This day of the dead print was by an artist who worked for me years ago.

It's a limited addition linoleum print signed & numbered by the artist.

This will be up through Halloween for sure!

Here it is the first day of fall.
The signs were every where, leaves falling and cooler temps, but I was in denial!

Where did summer go?

I wasn't ready to let go yet!
Here's hoping for a long warm fall so my mind can catch up to the calendar!

Cottage Style Party #40

So I'm driving down the road on my way to work.

It's trash day, so my eyes are darting back and forth from curb to road to curb and back.

Then I spot this on the side of the road.

Only it had stuff piled on top of it but I could see just enough

to make me slam on my brakes and pull over.

In my head I am picturing doing this with the fence:

So I throw it in the back of my truck and continue on my way to work.

I'm thinking it will look great weaving its way through my flowers and

distracting my eye from my neighbors ugly chain link fence.

It's already working and my flowers are just starting to fill in!

Oh, and I also found this chippy painted chair:

Just needs a cushion and some fresh paint!

I did pay for the picnic hamper at a flea market.

Shhh...it wasn't much...

What kinds of bargains have you found on the curb?

That is, if you are a curb jockey...ha!

Good Bye Winter...Hello Space Bags!

Living in a 120 year old house has its challenges. One of them is no closet space. We have 2 and a partial over the washer and dryer. Those two are small with very little hanging space in one and no shelves in the other. But both have a secret hidey hole above the closet for storing things like seasonal clothes. But this space is small and has doors, so everyting has to fit behind the doors. It is challenging, to say the least!

Then you walked into my life, Space Bags! Now my winter clothes are safely tucked away until next fall. No spiders, no dust, no struggling to get my Rubber Maid tubs up the ladder and into the cubby! I am in love with Space Bags!

Good bye winter wool sweaters! So long bulky snow boots! Bye-bye down jacket! Sayanora cashmere scarf and gloves! See you all next fall!

Indoor Kitties Gone Wild!

Well, not really.... These mostly indoor kitties were too scared to roam off the bench on the back porch.

They have forgotten how great fresh mown grass feels under their toosties. To chase birdies out by the feeders. To poop in my vegie garden. The bliss won't last long!
