Remember when I mentioned things I needed to get done before yard work season happens?
Since last weekend was much colder outside than I thought it would be, I decided to stay inside and make lamps.
Yep, it was a lost lamp weekend.
I spent much of Saturday "refreshing" my memory of how to wire a lamp by googling "how to wire a lamp". Then I checked on "how to wire a hanging lamp" because that's a whole different ballgame. After checking out the wires I had, I googled out "how to wire a lamp when the wires are the same color".
After all that hard work on Saturday I took a nice nap with kitties piled on top of me.
(Is there any other way to take a nap when kitties own you?)
On Sunday I was ready to begin.

I love this chicken egg basket hanging lamp! I used a red and white striped cloth wire and tucked a vintage looking lightbulb in the outlet.
This cute colander lamp was the first one I did as the lamp kit was easier to work with. I love how the light shines through the holes!
Another chicken egg basket, this time with a twisted double black cloth wrapped wire. I love the look of vintage style cloth wrapped wires on rustic vintage style lamps!
This surveyors wood tripod has been sitting around waiting to be made into a lamp for almost 2 years.
Gasp!
I know…what was I waiting for?
The tripod surveyor's lamp in Pottery Barn was my inspiration. My reality was a DIY project that took 2 years for DIY inspiration.
Without the shade it still looks great with this old style lightbulb.
I think I paid $40 for the tripod at this junky (not in a good way) flea market I rarely go to. I got lucky that day as some antiques vendor was passing through and stopped for the day. First and last time I saw him there.
I found the lamp shade last year and thought it would be perfect as it has a nice pebble finish.
But I think it is too small for this large floor lamp so I will be on the look out for a thrifty larger shade.
The floor lamp took the longest to do as I kept wiring and rewiring it trying to figure out a way to stabilize the wiring so it didn't move around on the tripod. After about 2 hours I finally had a brain storm!

I must confess that it was 73º today and I was outside doing yard work this evening instead of working on this post.
It was so nice to be outside without a coat on!
After raking leaves out of my flower beds, I left about 20 minutes to sit outside on my bird poop covered table and chairs to eat a quick salad.
Yep, that is an embarrassing confession I just dropped.
My apologies if you are eating!
It's not as gross as it seems!
Really!
I picked the chair with the least poop and ate on the part of the table with no poop.
Tonight it will rain it all off and tomorrow it will all be covered with snow.
Poop out of sight is poop out of mind.
Or something like that…
I'm going to shut up now...
