I think of tables full of rusty, crusty junk,

aka

gems in the rough!

I think of patina and rust, torn and worn pieces 

that add character to a cottage home.

I think of giving old junk a new purpose...

...a new life, with a new purpose.

World's Longest Yard Sale ~ Piles of Finds ~ Part 3

Welcome to World's Longest Yard Sale

the piles of finds!

Yep, I found piles of great stuff!

My truck was loaded down...

Up to the back window which fell forward when I moved the seat.

Some stuff in the bed. 

Not too much as these were unplanned items and the inside was full.

The front seat and floor were full too!

Some of it unloaded and on the back patio waiting to be hosed down of cobwebs and dirt.

Most of the truckload unloaded in my living room on the chair I did not find a replacement for.

But I did find loads of other stuff!

World's Longest Yard Sale ~ The Sale Scenery ~ Part 2

Part 2 of the World's Longest Yard Sale featuring more yards with more sales.

But no living room chair...yet!

I am now some where north of Seven Mile, Ohio heading to Camden.

 The town of Camden always has a park full of dealers who sell at good prices.

Plus, I can park once and walk around, a nice change of pace.

In Camden, there is stuff piled everywhere!

Come to me good junk!

I find an old wood office chair and decide to redo my office.

Yep, that quickly, I make this decision.

(You will see why in a future post!)

I found so much great stuff here that I couldn't carry it all at once.

Those old wood crates were great but a little too rich for me. 

This dealer specialized in wood crates and old wood spools and spindles.

Some of my finds: the wood office chair, rustic farm baskets and a green wood carrier.

But no chair for my living room, sigh.

Lunch was a pulled pork sandwich at a booth on a sustainable farm.

Delish!

Sale signs are everywhere along Rt 127.

Almost everyone in this town had a yard sale!

Yes, please!

I buy skeleton keys and tablecloths here every year.

This is Ohio farm country, lest you forget!

Onward north to Amish country where I buy one of these:

An Amish made WHOOPIE PIE!

The best 75 cents I spent all day!

Yum!

World's Longest Yard Sale ~ The Sales ~ Part 1

This years World's Longest Yard Sale was better than ever! 

For me, at least!

While I was at work the day before, my Dad dropped off $100 with a note that said

"Have a good time at the yard sale, Dad".

How sweet is that?

And, yep, I'm still Daddy's Little Girl! 

lol!

This windfall was a total game changer for me!

Instead of only looking for items for my Etsy Shop

I could now look for a few things for me too.

Thanks Dad!

My road trip starts as I turn off I-275 onto Rt 127 in Fairfield, Ohio.

I bypass Rt 127 in Cincinnati in favor of small towns and farm country north of there.

My first stop is always at a small old strip mall in Fairfield with a few vendors in the parking lot. 

I'm looking for a chair for my living room as my naughty kitties have destroyed the one I have (sigh...).

This stop looks promising but, alas, is not.

The next stop is another old small strip mall where I find a few smalls:

a metal basket, a scoop and a flower frog.

And this:

Yep, those are deer legs and feet.

I did not buy them!

This stop is full of antiques dealers is on the side of the road every year.

I love the stuff but I'm looking for better prices.

So I move on...

This old guy set up under a shade tree with a cooler of cold drinks and a small pile of junk.

It was a hot and humid day as it always is in August in the midwest.

These people were very organized with tents for shade which encourages lingering.

I lingered and found a few smalls here but no chair.

Onward....

My heart rate speeds up at the sight of so many venders in one place!

Yes!

And my truck starts to fill up!

But no chair yet...

Flea Market Finds...Vintage Aprons!

Remember that post where I found all those lovely vintage linens at the flea market?

I am still digging through the pile!

Yep, I dug in the pile this weekend and I found some lovely vintage aprons.

Washed and ironed and ready for use!

Flea Market Finds...More Great Stuff!

My recent trip to a local flea market netted so many great finds! 

You know how you go to the flea and 

it's all junk but not in the good junk kind of way?

Well...

This was not that kind of flea market.

I found so much great stuff it will take me weeks to go through it all!

Yeah!
