Butterflies in the Garden

I never tire of watching butterflies in my garden!

I planted 3 butterfly bushes so I would have plenty of places to watch them.

I haven't a clue what kind of butterfly this is, but how pretty!

A short little stubby one!

This one is bigger than the flower!

Still hungry!

A new friend for Daisy!

Hey! Where'd ya go?

    1. Glad I could provide a laugh! The whole time I was zooming in for the shot, I had to say "bad girl" and "don't touch" so my photo ham of a kitty wouldn't take a swipe at the butterfly! Thankfully, no butterflies were harmed while taking these photos...and no kitties...

And was this flat tire Tuesday? I had one too...ARGH!

  5. Hi Etsy, that is also my preoccupation during weekends I am at home in the province, watching and phtographing butterflies. We don't have butterfly bush here but we have lots of nectar flowers loved by butterflies. In our garden the most loved is Duranta erecta. I've also posted them in previous post in Andrea in this Lifetime. You will see the differences of our species. That first photo of a swallowtail is very common in US blogs these days, almost everyone post it.

  15. The top butterfly is a black swallowtail, and you've captured lovely pictures of them all. How cute is Daisy and friend!
I'd like to recommend 'The Life Cycles of Butterflies' by Judy Burris & Wayne Richards, an excellent resource to ID not only the butterflies, but their larval stage as well.

  16. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous butterflies at "Sunlit Sunday" this week. They have brought a little bit of summer back to this wintry day. The cat is quite gorgeous as well. You really caught a moment with the photograph of the tabby and the butterfly so close to each other. Beautiful!

  22. The sight of a butterfly bush, late in the season, covered with butterflies in the low slanting sun, is a memory I'll treasure from last September. Your shots are lovely.
