What's Blooming This Week - Water Hyacinths

As the garden winds down at the end of September, not much is blooming….except the water hyacinths! I grow these every year in my large pot/water feature with solar fountain and this is the first year they have bloomed. Every summer I buy these and am reassured by the seller that these will bloom. Well, this summer, er, late September, they have (finally) bloomed!

What's Blooming This Week...Pots & Pumpkins

It’s early fall and most of the perennial flowers have faded away to seed heads. There are a few blooms on the butterfly bush to feed the hummingbirds passing through but not enough to photo. Some of the annuals are still blooming and the mums are just starting. Let’s take a peek at early fall at the cottage…

Stacked pumpkins on an old porch table.

This pot has greeted me everyday since May.

These hydrangeas are prettier than when they first bloomed.

This lavender brushes my ankles along the front walk and makes the porch smell delicious!

The lavender puts on a second show.

Welcome visitor to the "herb garden" out back.
