Thrift Store Finds...Finally!

After my last disappointing thrift store finds post (still nothing in my bowl…gah!), I finally found some fabulous vintage stuffs at the thrift store.

Finally!

Its not like I haven’t been looking for great stuff, I’m sure they get it in, I think it just sells before I can get there on Saturdays.

Can not WAIT for yard sale season to expand my junkin’!

Here’s a peek at what I found last few weekends…not too shabby…

White wicker handbag with lucite handles

Silverplate sugar bowl

Straw pillbox hat with fruit

Old wood spools...perfect for displaying hats (see above!)

A copper star cookie cutter

Rusty old green toolbox...great for display!

Hammered copper tea kettle

Brown transferware cup and saucer

Thrift Shop Finds...Don't Get Too Excited...

Is that not the most underwhelming title?

A hint of things (not) to come?

My lack of thrift store finds post should have been a tip off.

sigh

I love thrifting and was so excited to go!

I thought the she stars were lined up.

It was a weekday!

I was off of work!

I could be there when all the good stuff was first put out!

Sadly, it was not to be.

The first store was closed all week.

The second store was closed permanently.

The third store was open, but the shelves might as well have been empty

as I found nothing.

That's right...

nothing.

I still had a couple of days off so I persevered over the next few days.

Finally!

I found something to show you.

Oh, yeah, not that. Daisy under the tree right before I took it down.

(what is it with cats under the Christmas tree? I guess its better than cats IN the tree...)

I found THIS...

A large Banana Republic silver bowl!

A little beat up but still wonderful!

Now, what should I do with it?

Going Thrifting...

I'm on vacation this week from work and have big plans...
that I may or may not get to.

Sadly, no, it does not involve the beach.

I like to leave my plans a bit open-ended and flexible so I can go with the flow
as opposed to my usual go with the work flow.

I would like to think that I look that busy at work, but, em, no.

Today's plan is to go thrifting,
take down the Christmas tree and drag it to the curb for recycling,
take some photos of future Etsy inventory,
take a nap (!),
watch some TV and
play with the kitties.

Exciting, no?

My original plan was to go to the flea market this morning
but since it rained/snowed/sleeted last night and
is very cold this morning,
I don't think many vendors will be there.

Grrr... foiled by the weather which will be
perfect for the flea tomorrow
which is only on Wednesdays.

sigh...

So, its off to the thrift stores instead.

Like I said...open-ended and flexible.

I promise to show you my finds!
