Lilacs!

Love…love…love lilacs!

They are blooming early this year and I took my camera (and a couple of vases) outside to capture their glory.

Too bad, there’s no smell-a-vision on here…

My neighbor has the largest lilac bush I have ever seen.

This year it is loaded with lilacs!

I like to think that’s because I pick them every year and have revitalized the bush.

Alternatively, maybe it is cyclical…whatever…they are gorgeous and plentiful!

In the kitchen.

On the mantel in the bedroom.

Mmmm....lilacs...mmm...

Signs of Spring!

This is the time of year when I look for any, ANY sign of spring I can find. I have had enough of winter and its gray and beige color scape. I’m ready for the pale shades of green from new leaves, the bright and cheery yellow of daffodils and waking up to the sounds of birds chirping good morning.

While I did not find much or any of that this weekend, I did find some small signs of spring.

A robin hunting for worms

Hmmm...lunch?

Winter aconite in bloom.

Snowdrops about to bloom.

Tiny blue flowers...I don't know the name...anyone?

Dear Punxsutawney Phil

You are looking well-rested and ready for spring, you handsome rodent, you!

Please do not even look for your shadow tomorrow morning, as I could use some of this:

And a lot more of this:

Thanks,

Flower of the Day - Pulmonaria Raspberry Splash

Today’s flower of the day is Lungwort or Pulmonaria Raspberry Splash. Pulmonaria Raspberry Splash sounds like a nicer name for the lovely plant pictured! This beauty has raspberry pink to lavender colored flowers and likes a damp shady location. This early bloomer flowers in April to May in full to part shade for lucky zones 3-8.

Happy Gardening!

Flower of the Day - Lenten Rose

Today’s flower of the day is another early spring bloomer, Lenten Rose. This beauty comes in several colors to brighten your landscape when almost no other flowers are blooming. It grows best in full to part shade in lucky zones 4-9.
