Cottage Style Party #48

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

I spent last weekend catching up on all the little projects I started 2 weeks ago.

One of those projects was to put my fountain together.

I love the sound of a fountain while enjoying my backyard.

I bought a new solar fountain kit with an

on/off switch for the fountain.

I can switch the fountain off while I'm at work,

the solar charged battery fills up

and then switch it on while sitting in my yard in the evening.

Nice!

Here's the finished project...

How did it get there?

Let me show you!

I started with an old faded pot without a drain hole in the bottom.

I roughed up the surface with a wire brush.

Then I spray painted it turquoise.

Much better!

I sealed the paint with spray sealer on the outside

and the painted part on the inside.

I moved it to a spot near my swing and table and chairs so I could hear it.

Then I planted a spare pot with water-loving plants.

I put beach glass on top to help hold in the potting soil.

I built my base for the planter with an old cracked

pot and a couple of bricks for weight.

Notice how I did not paint most of the inside.

I positioned the planter on top of the stack.

This is the solar fountain kit: a solar panel on a

small stake connected to a small fountain.

On a side note...notice the weeded garden.

I wrapped some rubber bands around one of the bricks and the fountain base.

Stand back...I turned it on!

Since I was rushed to beat a storm, I took a quick photo of it on,

turned it off and ran inside as the rain pelted down.

The next morning I came outside to find this:

Yes, that's right, the water drained out over night.

Grrrr.....

You may skip this step if you choose.

When I came home from work that night I filled it again.

And it stuck!

It also poured rain (again!) and flooded my fertilizer and some soil out of the pot.

And I don't care because it is holding water!

Fountain on high...

Fountain on low...

I put a couple of other potted plants in front of it to annoy my lawn cutting guy,

er, to make it pretty.

And because I still had some left over plants I needed to do something with.

I used Rust-oleum spray paint in aqua satin finish and

Rust-oleum clear matte Ultra Cover Sealer.

The plants I used in the pot are Creeping Jenny and Elephant's Ear.

The Ear is a bulb and not showing yet.

Both plants like water which is important!

And that's how I spent the weekend!

How was yours?

Welcome to this weeks

Cottage Style Party!

I just love all the summer cottage style in last weeks party!

So let's get started...

Well, we all know I love water in the garden!

I love this birdbath tucked into the peonies, clematis and foxglove!

This is just a tiny sample of the lovely garden you will find at Heaven's Walk blog.

And it's not the only water feature either!

You don't have to tell me twice to "relax"!

This gorgeous room is all about relaxing with its breezy style and vintage finds.

Stop by A Southern Belle with Northern Roots to see the big fluffy bed

and those fabulous old suitcases!

I feel relaxed already...

I think vintage aprons on the laundry line are so irresistible!

This reminds me of my Granny hanging her lines out to dry.

Fond, fond memories...

If you love aprons too, then drop in to see some of Helene's favorites, at her blog, Helene's Legacy!

Don't forget to pick up you button on the side!
