Memorial Day in a Small Town

I live in a small town that celebrates everything with a parade. And, I do mean *everything*. I live one block from the parade route and sometimes I don't even know what the parade I can hear is for.

But today's parade was in honor of the men and women who died while serving our country. Today's parade celebrated Memorial Day.

Since my Dad is a vet of WWII and the Korean War, he participated in this parade. He sat in the air conditioned comfort of the VFW bus!

Enjoy the photos of my small town Memorial Day parade...

Note the empty chairs, it was too hot & humid for most vets.

Many vets preferred the air conditioned comfort of the bus (like my 83 year old Dad!)

The high school band was working hard!

Bang those drums kids!

The Kittens! How cute!

Boy Scouts with flags!

I'm not sure what these little Indy cars were all about but its Indy 500 weekend
and they were throwing candy! Yeah!

My neighbor, Pickles, in the parade.

(Why, yes, he does drive a girly car...)

Even the homes on the parade route get into festive patriotic decorating!

Happy Memorial Day!
