Flower of the Day - Purple Rooster Bee Balm

Today's flower of the day is Purple Rooster Bee Balm. These deep purple blooms attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your garden. It blooms from mid-to-late summer and will re-bloom if spent blossoms are pruned. This aromatic Monarda grows best in part shade to full sun for lucky zones 4-9.

Happy gardening!

  1. Such a pretty plant. Sounds like it would even work in the NE where I live.

  2. We planted the red Monarda several years ago -- and love it! I also like the black hollyhocks you posted about a few days ago. I need to ask my husband what colors he planted... The black is beautiful! Thanks for stopping by.
