Flower of the day - Purple Plume Astilbe

Today's flower of the day is Purple Plume Astilbe. Another shade lover, this perennial has lovely feathery plumes in early to mid-summer. As fall approaches the delicate lacey foliage turns from glossy green to reddish bronze. The flowers are perfect for dried arrangements and crafts. This is a true three season plant for lucky zones 3-8.

Happy gardening!

  1. I have been looking for quite a few of these flowers to fill my garden. Flowers like this one and peonies, suggestions where I can buy them?
    Thank you! :)
