Cottage Style Party & A Last Walk Thru the Garden

It rained all weekend so I did a little in house autumn decorating.

I had a post ready to go.

But after the rain I took a walk in my garden and
realized it would be my last one this year.

Sad, I know!

So I'm saving my indoor fall decorating post for
this last walk in my garden.

There's even some flowers!

This reblooming iris is right next to my front porch and
always surprises me when it flowers in October.

The window boxes I planted are flowering now
and I can see them from my living room window.

Toad lilies starting blooming when most of the garden rests.

A unique color combo that wasn't there all summer,
a fall special.

Finally...tomatoes!

I'm watching the weather forecast for signs of frost
so I can pick these to bring inside to ripen.

This purple Veronica was a new plant this year
and is still blooming.

This sprawling lantana is nice but low and small.
I prefer the tall bush kind and will look for those next year.

This was a cheap $10 basket form Home Depot that was a good investment...
still flowering!
(I forget what these are called...)

The morning glory meanders around my garden with
flowers popping up here and there.

The last hydrangea flower this year is the best one.
I might have to pick it and bring it inside for winter.

Lavender blooms with yellow mums.

Yellow mums and coral belle flowers.

It's a bittersweet moment when you take that last stroll around the garden.

Frost is in the forecast in the next 2 weeks
and most of the flowers will succumb to it.

That's when I will spend time looking at the photos I took
of my summer garden.

And wait for next spring.

How is your fall garden?

Hello Friends!

Welcome to this weeks

Cottage Style Party!

#65

I'm feeling a little melancholy about the loss of warm weather,
long days and my summer garden.

{Note to self...retire some where warm were you can garden all year}

With Halloween right around the corner I still need to
put up those scary decorations and carve a Jack-o-lantern!

Not to mention buy candy for all the little
ghosts and goblins!

Are you Halloween-ready?

I'm pumpkin crazy this week!

Let's see your pumpkins...

How cute are these hand made paper and lace pumpkins n gourds?

These started as plastic Walmart decorations in dire need of an overhaul. Stop by Carmen's blog Vintage Creations to see the details of this rescue!
So cute!

This adorable orange pumpkin sits on Audrey's thrifty find...
a small blue metal folding ironing board!

It's perfect for her fall pumpkin display!

the details of her display and what she intends to do with it!

This is the most bling-a-licious pumpkin I have ever seen!
Luscious fabrics and glitzy rhinestones!

  6. Oh your garden is still so lovely. Ours is long past and the rains have taken what was left. We are cozy and warm with hot tea and a good book. Your photos are lovely.

  7. Deb...you Home Depot blossom are Lobelia. When I lived in MI I gave Container Gardening demos and talks for garden clubs and continuing ed classes and more. One of my favorite containers contained Lobelia. I used to say like diamonds, you couldn't have too much. I don't know that that is really true...but it always got a few laughs.
Love your iris! I never heard of a rebloomer. Do you know the name?

  10. Good morning, Deb - hope your day is going well. Believe it or not, my pole beans are still blooming and producing, and the bumblebees are still bumbling! But not for long - we have some cold weather in the forecast. My tomato plants still have a lot of green fruits on the vine and my Anaheim Chile peppers have quite a few peppers also. I'm letting those turn red. My purple aster is just about finished and a beautiful purple mum is just getting ready to pop into bloom!
Thanks for hosting this wonderful party! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

  15. I can't believe how vibrant your fall garden still is in October! My irises have been long gone. My favorite of yours are, of course, the lavender! They're such a pretty purple color. Mine were kind of grayish, greenish.
