Easy DIY Globe Lamp!

Make this easy DIY globe lamp and learn from my mistakes!

I did it the hard way but you can learn from my mistakes

which is certainly easier than making them your self!

Gather your stuff.

The whole globe came from Goodwill but the lower part was dented -

a perfect candidate for a lamp!

The lamp kit, white tape, bulb and matte spray are from Home Depot.

Cut your globe in half.

No pics as I had a globe in one hand and a large knife in the other.

Take it outside and spray the inside with white spray paint.

(also not pictured as it was hard to balance without a camera in my hand)

Use a knife to make the hole in the top bigger.

Work on this for WEEKS before giving up and digging out the metal disc under the paper.

(Note how the disc hole is jagged from weeks of digging it with my paring knife.)

Slice the paper carefully all around the small hole and pull out the disc.

Tape the plain bottom edge of the globe.

Your choice of colors or prints.

(Home Depot even had zebra and leopard!)

Spend a week trying to figure out how the lamp parts go together because

the directions are not in any language I recognized.

Fit the parts onto your globe and pull the wire through the hole into the globe.

Tuck the cut paper under the gold round disc.

Switch the parts around several times before finding a configuration that

works for your lamp and metal thread.

(Thread is hiding under the plastic parts)

Stand your lamp up right and watch all your parts come apart.

Again

and again

and again

until you can get the thread to parts ratio just right so it stays together.

Hang your globe lamp with a cord that is too short so that

you need an extension cord to reach the outlet

Forget to use the matte spray which is ok.

Done!
